[Recipes] Apple Chips: Baked Cinnamon Apple Chips

Hands-On Time: 10 minutes | Total Time: 2–3 hours
Ingredients:
- 2 medium apples (Fuji, Honeycrisp, or Gala work well)
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Optional: ½ teaspoon coconut sugar or monk fruit sweetener for extra sweetness
- Lemon juice (optional, to prevent browning)
Instructions:
Step 1 – Prep the Apples
Preheat oven to 225°F (110°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper. Wash apples and slice them crosswise into thin rounds (about 1/8 inch thick). Remove seeds as you slice. You can keep the skin on.
Step 2 – Add Flavor
Place apple slices in a bowl and lightly sprinkle with cinnamon (and sweetener if using). Toss gently to coat. A squeeze of lemon juice is optional to preserve color.
Step 3 – Bake Low & Slow
Arrange apple slices in a single layer on the baking sheets. Bake for 2 to 3 hours, flipping once halfway through, until crisp and dry to the touch. Baking time may vary slightly depending on thickness and apple type.
Step 4 – Cool & Store
Remove from oven and let cool completely—they’ll crisp up more as they cool. Store in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
Use a mandoline slicer for even, ultra-thin slices.
Try mixing cinnamon with a pinch of nutmeg or cardamom for a warm spice twist.
If they start to soften after a day, pop them back in the oven for 10 minutes to re-crisp.
