Total Time: 20 minutes
Calories per serving: 128
Ingredients:
- 1 (15-oz.) can chickpeas, rinsed and drained
- 1 Tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
- 2 tsp chili powder
- 1/4 tsp kosher salt
- Finely grated lime zest, for serving
Instructions:
Step 1: Dry Thoroughly
Use paper towels to dry chickpeas as much as possible—this helps them get extra crispy.
Step 2: Toss to Coat
In a medium bowl, mix chickpeas with olive oil, chili powder, and salt until evenly coated.
Step 3: Air Fry Until Crisp
Transfer chickpeas to your air fryer basket. Cook at 370°F (188°C) for 10–14 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through. Chickpeas should be golden and crunchy.
Step 4: Add a Zesty Finish
Let cool slightly, then grate fresh lime zest over the top before serving.
- Want a different flavor profile? Try za’atar, curry powder, or garlic herb seasoning.
- Leftovers? Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days for best crunch.
- Bonus: Don’t throw out the chickpea liquid (aquafaba)—it’s a vegan egg substitute perfect for meringues or mousse.
